It's time to take a look at Two of the greatest occult detectives who ever lived. Hellboy, The World's Greatest Paranormal Investigator and the true King of England (wut),the one that will bring the apocalypse and demon turned hero of the mortal plane versus John Constantine who goes by another name - Hellblazer. He is th,e World's Greatest Con Man who with his insane luck as scammed the whole universe by existing and has scammed both the God and the Devi. These Two demon slayers and masters of the occult go head to head in a battle between intelligence, physical strength, and personality. Hellboy's insane physical strength, tankiness, against Constantine's cunning,and magic. BIO - HELLBOY:
Hellboy is just a nickname. His real name is Anung Un Rama and was born on October 5, 1617, the day his birth-mother Sarah Hughes was dying but Sarah wasn't an ordinary person. Quit the opposite actually, Sarah was a witch who was able to gain power from being a consort of the demon Azazel which is where Hellboy's demon appearance comes from. Azazel is a duke of Hell and took Sarah's body to Hell when she wanted to repent on her deathbed for all the sins she has committed as a witch.Azazel killed her by burning her away so the child between Sarah and Azazel would be born. Then like the good father he is he chopped the newborn's right hand off to replace it with the Right Hand of Doom (such a fitting name).. When the other princes of Hell learned about what he had done. Azazel sent his half-demon child away. Azazel was later punished by stripped of his powers and imprisoned in ice (sucks to be you). That it's for Hellboy's story until World War 2. On Earth, the sorcerer Rasputin allied with the Nazis (those fun loving guys), attempted to summon the Beast of the Apocalypse. The Nazis wanted the Beast so they could use it to win the war. But Rasputin wanted to destroy the world using the dragon Ogdru Jahad, However, the spell appeared to have failed but that's not what happened at all as Rasputin summoned Hellboy. Who ended up in the hands of Allied Forces,. He would later grow up under the care of Trevor Bruttenholm and the Bureau for Paranormal Research and Defense.In 1952, Hellboy was granted "honorary human" status by the United Nations and becomes member of the BPRD as the "world's greatest paranormal investigator".What i nice and pleasant backstory - am i right.
BIO: JOHN CONSTANTINE:
John's life was not an easy one. Hell you could say that John was born in death, and the constant ghost of death followed him throughout his life. While in his mother's womb he strangled and killed his twin brother (murdering and being a dick is kinda a common trope with John as you will soon see. Not only did he kill his twin brother but his mother died giving birth. Ouch. During their childhood, John and his older sister Cheryl lived with their aunt and uncle in Northampton. This was because well their father wasn't a nice person due to his alcoholism and his imprisonment for stealing a female neighbor's underwear. When he was younger he decided you know what should i do - hide all of his childhood innocence and nice personality traits in a box to rid himself it these traits because that makes sense. In the 1960s, a teenage John decided to leave home but he accidentally caused his father to become withered and frail. (Making everyone's life a living hell - John Constantine everybody.) He eventually would become a huge fan of the punk rock-scene; after seeing the Sex Pistols which John is inspired by.He formed his own band, Mucous Membrane, They would later release an album called Venus of the Hardsell (typical punk rock stuff).. John also became a famous stage magician in the 1980s, and predicted assassination attempt on U.S. President Ronald Reagan (i am sure people in the 1980s wished John was wrong about it being unsuccessful). However, life for our fickle friend would go horribly wrong as he found a magical orgy (make of that what you will) gone pretty terribly like most magical orgies. Trust me i have experience. Astra, a child who had summoned a monster to kill the adults no longer was able to put the monster back in Hell. John convinced his friends to destroy the creature by doing the most sensible thing imaginable - summoning a demon of their own (of course that makes perfect sense). The monster they summoned mocked Constantine's friends ( i guess because it felt like it) and took the child to Hell. John breakdown committed to Ravenscar Psychiatric Hospital, He would never be truly sane but later he would become an occult detective.
PERSONALITY - HELLBOY:
If i would describe Hellboy's personality in a couple of words i would say he is Demon Wolverine. He is a very likable fellow (unlike several demons i have met called Moh, Xenos, and the truth evil Tantantine. But like our favorite X-Men he is an extremely gruff person. He often likes to inject some life into conversations with some witty humor. He can easily frustrated and angered by his gadgets failing to work (Just like Windows 10 - Heyo) but when it comes down to it he truly has a kind personality and has a good heart and has a love for other humans despite the fact he is well not human (noo really he's not human). Hellboy is iron will and a desire to do the right thing and protect the pepole that are closest to him. He has no interest in the purpose he was created for being a harbinger of the end of days.Like Vash from Trigun he hides his past and his conflicted feelings about the world and his past beneath a wisecracking tough guy who loves going on adventure and enjoys just kicking back and having cold beer and smoking, than battle demons and evil spirits. He is truly a good person unlike our next guy.
PERSONALITY - JOHN CONSTANTINE:
What word would i describe John Constantine's personality in a nutshell...cunt. That's the perfect word to describe John. While he is a humanist (sort of) and does sometimes help out the humans against the forces of heaven and hell. Mostly he is extremely foul-mouthed and cynical about pretty much everyone. While he will help people sometimes he has no regards for people that aren't his friends and will sometimes even betray them. He is willing to kill and murder people and trick gods and demons into helping him. The only reason why he gets into the occult business is not out of moral obligation but because for him it is a adrenaline addiction that stats his desires. Despite being not a very nice person for some reason Constantine has a wide amount of contacts and allies, and is surprisingly good at making friends. He is openly bisexual and has had many girlfriends as well as past boyfriends. While Constantine is lucky his friends are not and a running gag in the comics is that his friends always end up dead one way or another. This has lead to him feeling more and more depressed by the fact that death if always with him..
WEAPONS/ARMOUR - HELLBOY:
Hellboy being a detective must have some weapons right. Well yes actually - the weapon he most uses is actually his right hand. The Right Hand of Doom which was put on him when dear old daddy decided to cut off his right hand and replace it.
Right Hand of Doom: The Right Hand of Doom is known for the legendary art of punching the shit out of stuff. Due to being created by a demon the hand is effectively invulnerable and feels no pain when hit by other objects. If i would compare it to anything it is very much like a sledgehammer so if Hellboy brings his right hand of doom on your head you better being saying your prayers as your head is about to become like a watermelon after it's been hit with a large hammer.
But the Right Hand of Doom is not his only tool for the job
He also has Excalibur and before if you mention Soul Eater no it does not wear a top hat and sing. Excaliber is a longsword in Arthurian Legend. Due to being able to wield the sword, it makes Hellboy the the rightful King of England, (wut..). The Excalibur also gives him the ability to lead an army of England's dead as long as they are noble.
Good Samaritan: He also has my second type of gun - a revolver This baby has a four round chamber and is rather over-sized . Shots fired from this revolver can destroy most materials. Hellboy due to being a master of the occult has numerous different types of bullets such as garlic (may or may not work on LSwan), Irish church bell fragments ( I heard one time he punched out MohZone and stole the Irish church bell), clovers (he then punched Moh again and stole some four leave clovers), and iron. He has to fire the lovely revolver in his left hand as his right hand is the big fist that hits stuff
Longcoat: Hellboy looves his long coat but it's not just for show. The pockets of the amazing jacket is always filled with items that give him much greater projection against the supernatural. Despite being a long coat that jacket can actually tank quite a lot.
Grenades: Hellboy despite being a physical powerhouse also has explosives. A guy raised in Britain who uses explosives - i wonder where i have heard that from. He has frag and smoke and this grenades are strong enough to kill demons and vampires.
Herbs - He also has herbs which he can heal himself with
A Rocket Pack - He used this once but upon ignition, it exploded and engulfed a very much pissed Hellboy.
WEAPONS/ARMOUR - JOHN CONSTANTINE:
While he does not use as many weapons as Hellboy is he is still skilled in weaponary:
Twin Blade: This weapon is 3-4 feet long short sword and was forged from the remains of the two dead Lords of Hell. And can cause instant death to those it wounds. This is one of the strongest swords in fiction as it managed to do the impossible - kill an omnipotent being being Satan aka The First of the Fallen.
Webley Revolver: John Constantine likes the finer things i life such as a British revolver . Though not keen in using guns he is a rather. capable marksman when he needs to be.
Magic Sigils: Like most Punk Rockers he has tattoos well magical sigils that project him from magic base attacks, and prevents supernatural creatures such as demons from touching him on the astral plane. However he is still vulnerable to physical attacks.
Trenchcoat: John's trench-coat protects him from attacks and can and withstand his battles. Surprisingly his trench-coat is a being all in itself and has demonic powers. John strangling people by willing his trench-coat. It can even control people to become extremely violent (mind you not as violent when you have to deal with John's personality).
SKILLS AND ABILITIES - HELLBOY:
Hellboy's superhuman ( i would have never guess). This is because hs is a demon. He is much stronger and more physically durable than a human.
Regenerative Healing Factor: Hellboy also possesses a "healing factor" that allows him to recover from wounds at an very fast rate (it's not as good as Deadpool or Wolverine). He can very easily survive a sword in his chest and a shotgun to the face
Enhanced sight: He can see much farther then the actual hukan
Superhuman Durability: Due to being a demon he can withstand great impact forces, high caliber bullets,very hot or cold temperatures and can fall from very high heights with little to no damage. He has survived being beaten by werewolves, zombies, and vampires and lived on with minor injuries.
Superhuman Strength: He can hurl giant trees with no problem and throw foes that are as large as four to five hundred pounds.
Superhuman Agility: He can jump across buldings and dodge bullets with ease
Skilled Hand to hand Combatant: He is a skilled combatant and has trained in various forms of combat. Hell one time he even used his fighting skills in a professional wrestling match with a vampire luchador and a zombie wrestler (yes this actually happened - look it up).
SKILLS AND ABILITIES - JOHN CONSTANTINE:
John is human and thus has pick human strength, speed and durability but that's not where John's second biggest strength is. While he prefers to talk things out rather then fighting his magical abilities more then make up for the fact he is only human:
Cursing: John is a master of curses. Some of his curses are relatively harmless, while others are not so much. He once cursed inmates into a catatonic state or the fact he made his father frail. His curses can affect demons.
Spells: John being a master of the occult has spells for everything. He can immobilize foes, seal demons away and destroy. He spells have destoryed demons, elementals, and gods
Spirit Ward Creation: He can use sigils to make himself undetectable by supernatural creatures such as demons
. Magic circles: He can uses magic circles to protect himself from any form of attack - supernatural and physical attacks will have no affect on them as long as he keeps inside the circle.
Realm travel/Time Travel. Constantine has the ability to open portals Heaven, Hell or even the Green. He can even time travel. Using these portals he can send his foes until hell.
Evocation: John is also a talented summoner as he can summon the undead and demons to attack anyone he sees as a threat. He can create summon storms of souls to attack.
Pyrokinesis: Conjure fire or fire from hell. He often uses his lighter as a conduit for his fire
Electrokensis: In the recent comics - he has been shown to fire electricity from his hands
Illusions: Conjure illusions to trick and confuse his opponents such as the time he faked his own death and convince another person that he was he
Mind Control: One of John's most favorite tactics is controlling people through mind c involves hypnotism, occlumency, and brainwashing. He once brainwashed a whole maximum state prison to riot just to bring him something to smoke and once forced a dog to choke on its own tongue.
Invisibility: He can make himself invisble meaning normal humans can't see him
Stage Magic Skills: Due to once being a stage magican he has picked up skilled such as slight of hand, pick-pocketing, and escapology
However, one of John's most bizarre abilities is something he got gentically. His Sychronicity Wave Travelling: (wow that's a mouth full. What does it do you may ask, well it allows himself to make his own luck yes i am serious. He can even have give bad luck to his foes. Using this luck he can protect himself and make sure that he reshapes the battle to his whims. That is very strong.
Demon Blood - Due to Nergal transferring blood to him and having sex with a succubus. John has demon blood which has healing properties. This blood is extremely dangerous can even effect beings such as Dracula. John can even weaponize his own blood to mind control people into being mindless slaves for himself
Skilled Hand to Hand Combatant: John suffers from what i like to call different writers syndrome. You see John;s skills in hand to hand have been debated as sometimes he is a poor physical fighter, while other times as a capable hand-to-hand combatant. He once fought the demon Nergal and ripped its spine out (ouch)
But is greatest skill is the legendary John Constantine kick:

JOHN CONSTANTINE - INTELLIGENCE AND TRICKERY:
Have you ever heard of someone who has a plot shield. Well John has that in spades. Even with no preparation, Constantine can and will think of a strategy to defeat his enemies in a fight. His intelligence is so great he strikes fear into Heaven and Hell. He is one of the few people that has actually managed to trick The Presence. Hell he is the only one that manages to threaten The Presence and gets away with it. He has tricked Merlin, Gabriel, drove an entire mafia to insanity and even talked a serial killer into killing himself. He's a master tactician and strategist and he can plan a strategy on the go while fighting. Constantine has fought against many of the most powerful; gods and great intellectual minds alike. His achievements stand amongst gods and omnipotents. He is constantly compared to characters much more powerful then he and there's a reason for that. He's beaten the first of the fallen about 5 times, beaten Gabriel (who went well against Lucifer) and manipulated the Presence himself with minimal Prep or no prep. Hell people have concluded he can beat characters such as Doctor Doom, No i am not kidding - this street level guy can go up against people like Doctor Doom. But that's just the nature of John Constantine.
WEAKNESSES - HELLBOY:
In the movies like traditional demons, Hellboy can be hurt or even killed by holy weapons and holy places, such as his rosaries can can burn his skin. But in the comics, he is unaffected by holy symbols and relics because he is 'no ordinary creature of Hell..Some spells and magic can also hurt and affect him. Hellboy more relies on his physical strength rather then intelligence to beat him. While he is almost indestructible he can still be hurt. Still Hellboy has very few weaknesses and downsides.
WEAKNESSES - JOHN CONSTANTINE:
While he feats rival gods and can tank far more then a normal human. There's the little fact that at the very end of the day he is still human and thus can be killed through human needs or simply a foe overpowering him which can happen. Another flaw with John is the fact that he. Constantine rarely uses magical spells unless he has to, especially in combat. He would rather bluff or talk his opponents first, or outsmart them rather than overpowering them meaning while he certainly faced foes in the past he would rather talk it out first. Finally he is no military training at all so his hand to hand combat is limited.

OVERALL - HELLBOY:
Hellboy is not one to be underestimated with in terms of strength. Due to being a demon he is insanely hard to kill and very different to defeat unless you have a weapon that can by pass regenerations. He's killed demons and other supernatural forces in his day. He is also voiced by Ron Perlman need i say more:
Destructive Capability: Wall to Building level+
Strength: Superhuman (can lift 20 tons)
Speed: Peak human.
Stamina: Superhuman.
Durability:Superhuman.
OVERALL - JOHN CONSTANTINE:
John Constantine is well deserving of the reputation has has been given by fans. He is one of the greatest prep gods in all of fiction and is someone that is very difficult to kill despite being human - hell God,Satan and Merlin couldn't beat him. John is the being most feared by the likes of Satan and Dracula and if he wanted to according to God he could conquer both heaven and hell. John is one bad-ass you don't want to mess with
Attack Potency: Street level | Street level+
Range: Depending on what spell he is using, he can cause effects from kilometers away, otherwise generally melee range
Speed: Average human, although he has demonstrated possible off-panel teleportation over short distances

Conculsion - Hellboy
Advantages:
1. Much Stronger than John
2. Much more durable than John
3. Can last longer than John
4. Excalibur and Good Samaritan could kill John for good
5. Much better at short range combat then John
Disadvantages:
1. Not nearly as smart as John
2. John's magic can affect Hellboy
3. The Twin Blade can kill Hellboy despite durability
4. He has limited protection against John's magic and illusions
5. A lot of John's weapons are designed to fight demons and Hellboy is a demon
CONCLUSION - JOHN CONSTANTINE:
Advantages:
1. Magic can damage and kill Hellboy
2. Twinblade bypasses Hellboy's durability
3. Has verity on his side when compared to Hellboy
4. His magic is designed to kill supernatural forces like Hellboy
5. He is much more intelligent and will analyse his foe even while on the fly
Disadvanatages:
1. Weaker than Hellboy
2. Less Durable than Hellboy
3. If he gets in up close with Twin Blade Hellboy could react and kill him
4. Not great at close range combat unlike Hellboy
THE VERDICT:
Huh, this DB is strange for some reason. Usually the character that is stronger, faster and more durable but in this case it's the opposite. In my personal opinion, John defeats Hellboy and here's way
Close Range - You may think this is easy as Hellboy is better at close range but i am sure you haven't forgotten about his trench coat that is able to fight for John. Plus both Pyrokensis and Electrokensis are just as strong in short range as they are long range. Hellboy won't be able to kill John as long as that trench-coat is one. As for swords you may think that Hellboy has the edge her as the longer length of Excalibur plus he has had more training and experience with it and the ability to raise the dead. The twinblade is in a league of its own as it can instant kill demons, gods and even Satan meaning if John can stab Hellboy and with his skills that is very likely
Long Range - I doubt John's guns will be that effective against Hellboy but Hellboy has said he has a very poor shot meaning John is able to out gun Hellboy and that's not even taking into consideration John's long ranged attacks.
Armour - While Hellboy's skin gives him decent protection John's coat is in a league of its own easily able to protect him without causing any injury to the user
When i really think about him Hellboy is simply outclassed - Hellboy's powers are great for dealing with close ranged foes thanks to his insane strength and durability. Especially when he wants to punch some faces in regenerative healing factor and the fact he is extremely fast. However, Hellboy with all of his physical strength can't even hope to counter Constantine's defensive and ranged magic to counter Hellboy's strength heck. John is extremely smart and despite Hellboy's improved sight Hellboy is not going to be able to count illusions that Constantine pulls up. Even if he does manage to bypass John's spells and gets close in what is he going to do against a weapon that has killed omnipotents and a guy who had tricked God and Satan. Constantine despite his lack of durability is very different to injure and/or kill him thanks to the trench-coat and demon-blood. It is very difficult to kill John but John can easily kill Hellboy by sealing him or using divine magic to kill him.
The final nail in the coffin for Hellboy is his synchronicity which makes him extremely lucky and means that Hellboy will always have bad luck on his side. John is a master of the battlefield and can easily see how to defeat an enemy.
Overall the Laughing Magician has this one in the bag; all the edges here are mostly tipped in his favor - his defensive and offensive magic plus his extreme luck, weapon versatility, regenerative healing powers and powers of deception. Hellboy is a strong close combat fighter compared to Constantine, but he will kept at bay and his superhuman abilities won't be enough for him to withstand the pain that Constantine has inflicted on demons.
Overrall the Laughing Magician simply lucks his way to victory
